Basketball season is always in full swing with Sports Monster so come join us this season and get some jumpers up! We have the best-run leagues in Pittsburgh. Leagues will fill up quickly, so hurry and sign up today and take advantage of our priority pricing!
 
We offer men's and coed leagues with recreational and competitive skill levels to ensure good competition no matter what level of game you have.
 
Sports Monster Basketball Leagues Include:
  • 6-7-week regular season + playoff tournament (all teams qualify)
  • 20 minute halves (running clock... stops in final 2 minutes of game) 
  • Two officials and scorekeeper included in league cost
  • Winning teams recieve customized champ t-shirts or trophies

 

Recreational: 
If you or your team are looking for a good time and aren't the best basketball player(s) out there but love the game, then this is your league. This level is set for those players that didn't play in college and maybe played some in high school. You will find a mixture of some good players and a few beginners as this level is set for our recreational players. 
 
Competitive: 

Played in highschool, college, or have played consistently in leagues? Then this will be the skill level for you. The intermediate level is set for those individuals and teams looking to play some competitive basketball. Many teams will run set plays, and all of them will have a great understanding of the game on both ends of the floor.

 

*NEW RULE* Any technical foul will result in automatic 2 points awarded to the other team. No free throws

League Details:
*Team Fees will be paid via start of first game on location.
*Teams of three. May have four or five players on roster.
*Coed Teams- Will need at least one female on the roster.
*Will have multiple games a night.
*Scoring: one point per basket; two points for shots made behind the 3-point line.
*First team to 21 points wins; OR the team ahead after the 20-minute time limit wins.
*Possession alternates after each made basket.
*Time-outs- One per game.
*Coin flip will determine who gets ball to start the game.
*Overtime if needed. First team to score two (2) points wins
*Substitutions- On dead ball situations, prior to the check ball.

*Starting Possessions
To start the game and after any dead ball that requires checking the ball at the top, the ball
must be passed (not dribbled) from the check box at the rear of the court.
*Shot Clock- Will be set to eliminate stalling.
*Free Throws-1 free throw if fouled while shooting and/or makes the shot. 2 free throws if fouled while shooting behind the arc. Every Free throws count as one point.
*Jump Ball- All jump balls become possession of the defensive team
*Team Foul Limit - 6 team fouls
Penalty for Team Fouls 7-9 is 2 free throws
Penalty for Team Fouls 10+ is 2 free throws and possessions of the ball
*Jerseys- All team members must have one the same color of shirt/jersey.

The winning team from each division will get a CASH Prize!!! 2nd place and 3rd would receive prizes.

*Standard team roster of 8 players
*Extra player fees = $10 per player for more than 8 players on roster

-Individual Registration
*$84.00 per player during Priority Registration
*$89.00 per player during Regular Registration
*Individuals are placed on a team with other individuals or similar skill levels.
*If you want your friends to be placed together, it is fine to register as individuals and reference each other for same team placement. Note that we cannot guarantee same team placement based on supply and demand. And you may also have additional players added to fill roster. If you want to control your roster, register as a full team.
*Maximum roster size of 10 but most individual teams have 6-8 players.

Signing up as an individual? Great! Indie teams are formed based on supply and demand and therefore require flexibility for placement. Give us 3 choices of when/where you can play and there is a 95% successful placement rate - or a refund if we cannot. If you are a guy, you need to be flexible for coed or men's. If you are a gal, you need to be flexible for coed or women's.

NOTE: YOU MUST list 2nd and 3rd options (if available) in case this first choice doesn't work out. You will be asked for options when you click to register. You can even list an alternate sport if you like - the goal is to get you playing! - but listing an alternate sport or skill level is not a requirement. If you can only play in this program, we recommend that you put a full team together.
